The same trick works with brimstone armor and potions of flame. You can drink a potion of purification then throw a poison gas potion so you're immune and they're not. When that happens you should use a seed to teleport away or put one monster to sleep (two steps are involved, you throw the seed then throw a regular item at it to trigger the seed). I ended in a corridor with 4 mobs, 2 blocking each way I could go Against warlocks break line of sight by retreating through a door or going around a corner so they move into melee. Against fire elementals fight them in a puddle, against monks retreat through doors to get an sneak attack/ auto hit against them. Too many strong mobs hitting too hard.Īt the deeper levels the monsters are as much about strategy as gear. The chains/hourglass are so useful I save wells of transmutation and backtrack to them to transmute artifacts to try and get them. This helps out quite a bit against the hard hitting melee monsters on the deeper levels. These all allow you to escape melee range and shoot your staff. The most important items for a battlemage are things that improve movement: Lloyd's beacon, chains, hourglass and ring of haste are your best options. The other wands are all useful but they tend to work better as backup wands because they're situationally useful and can be dangerous. The "best" wands to imbue are priamatic light, frost and disintigration. You can beat the game with a staff of magic missiles, it's actually pretty good if you have lots of wands because it's "special effect" in melee charges all your wands.

#SHATTERED PIXEL DUNGEON BATTLEMAGE UPGRADE#
What upgrade should you seek around level 15+ to survive?

Every upgrade after that goes into your staff and I prefer to use the blacksmith to upgrade my armor 1 last time. My typical upgrade path for a battlemage is the first scroll goes into my staff, the next upgrades go into the first set of chain or scale armor I find, getting to +4 chain/+3 scale by tengu. Should you upgrade staff or wait and upgrade wand? When do you start to upgrade an armor?
